Reporter Pman reporting live from here.

So I got a request from an Indian friend of mine living in India to write one of these posts that I used to when we were all in school and through university. It was mostly a babbling piece I used to write, about what I was doing at the time and also what I knew everyone else was doing..so it would go a bit like this.....

...zzztt...zztt....."tuning frequency noises"...."damn radio!"....

"This is Pman reporting to you live from the underside of kangaroo land, next to lord of the rings land....., for all of you who do not know where that is, you need to go back to school and talk to our geography teacher. Although none of the references I've made relate to geography. Talk to a 12 year old kid instead.

Kapow! - *Pman is hit on the head by the producer for digressing again!* (Producer Ubaid is quite the producer, enough to give me a permanent head damage (PHD) (you see what I did there).

"Moving on, the orangutan has escaped its enclosure from Kangaroo island zoo and has now taken refuge on the top of the university clock tower, scaring a lot of university students and creating an atmosphere of havoc and mayhem. Some students were in a state of panic as we interviewed them.

We have our top correspondent on the field as we speak, she will be reporting to us live from the gardens of the campus:

Pman : "Zunaira  - What is the state of the students and what are the movements of the orangutan ?"

" Oh prithiee, the orangutan is fine and orange, jumping up and down and having a bit of fun. The students are panicking as they are running out of data on their phones. Some students have never looked up in the trees, as they would miss their facebook posts on their phones. The students are trying to lure the animal in by tempting it with mars bars and red bull but to no avail. The university authorities have declined to comment on the situation. Back to you Prothie."

Pman: "Thanks Zunaira, for getting my name wrong again. We'll reconvene with her report on this crisis situation in a few moment"

Now to traffic news in the big town of Jayang Suba, we have local correspondent Nagi in the chopper.

*Chopper....Chopper...Chopper...*
"Pman, the traffic going north is bumper to bumper, the traffic going south is tyre to tyre, the traffic going west is uber to uber and the eastern board of the town have all left the cars and are watching EPL at the mamak, nothing unusual to report. Back to you"

Pman : "Thanks Nagi for the captivating and helpful traffic report."

On to business, we have local expert correspondents Ahmed and Albaraa at their head office downtown.

"Pman, the robots have rebelled and have taken over, we need assistance here. Call the hackers, we have a problem."

Pman : "uh...ok....We are having some technical difficulties with our business segment of the news and will be back at a later date, thanks guys."

"Moving on to my favorite section, the food news!, with our host Sam and his special guest Ahmed Salah"

"So Sam whats the special for today ? "

Sam - " Well Ahmed hasn't shown up yet, I've eaten what I cooked, If you had a camera you could e have a close up shot of these crumbs, and call it apple crumble or something. " *Mic Drop* and Sam walks out.

*Ahmed walks in 1 hour later*

Pman - "Ahmed, have you got anything to share with us today ? "

Ahmed - "This show sucks! there's no food, and more importantly I was told this was going to be a food eating show, I ......I'm going back. *Mic drop* *Ahmed walks out*

*Today's news is not working out very well*

"Let's move onto current affairs and political news with our expert on the road, no he's actually driving and on the hands free kit"

Pman : "Wayne, I hope you've got two hands on the wheel ? What can you tell us about the current affairs and if there's any breaking news ?

Wayne - "Well, current affairs is that I just had some banana leaf at Devi's, service was horrible, and slow. I don't do politics, never have......*Bluetooth disconnected* (Later found out, Wayne was playing Dota and Vaping at home)

We'll try Mushfique on the other end of the world
Mushfique - "Pman, I'm a little busy now doing important political things, will chat to you later"

Let's try our friendly neighborhood interior designer and fashion consultant on the latest in home decor and menswear:

"Jeff and Ben, good to have you on the show today, give us some good news!"

Jeff : "Well, the best place to play soccer is not in the house, but outside. If you don't have a choice, you can get away with the spare bedroom. "

Ben : "The best thing to accompany your suit is a great tasting plate of sushi/sashimi and sake" (referring to his latest facebook posts)

And finally we have the Parents and Baby news section- our correspondents (we seem to have quite a few at the moment) seem to be busy tending to their babies but we'll give them a  try :

Correspondents :

Kiyama - "Start debating with your child from an early age, it really works "
Sahiba - "Just dance.....just dance"
Haris - *We need to catch up man* "It can be a little hectic, but its beautiful!"
Ehaab - "Cars...cars...and more cars"
Huzaifah  - "Pman, I ain't got no time for this, things to do, places to be"
Zaky - "What Huzi said"

On to our spotlight section, we have entertainment director sharlene here to shed some light on some work she's been doing lately:

Sharlene : "laaaa la dee dum dum ..." *Sharlene is singing at the moment, we will catch up with her when she's not*

Finally in our brand new section, its all about covert operation and affairs

Pman : "So Chuan Loong, what can you tell us about the latest technology in spyware ? "
Chuan Loong : " My name is Foo, Martin Foo"
Pman : "ok"

That was the news with me Pman, tune in next blue moon for another exciting, babble of News on your favorite radio station on preset 6.

*None of the characters or their  portrayals are true, if any portrayal or stories portrayed here are true, bloody hell I'm good. Moral of the story is - I haven't caught up with you guys enough to even write a terrible piece on you.

This is pman signing out.

PS. - I know I've left some people out - because of two options :

1. I got hungry
2. We need to catch up
3. I forgot (unlikely)

Some philosophical mumblings.

The saying when one door closes another opens, or in a more practical sense when you miss out on one opportunity, you will be presented with another one. In its essence, you will almost never be presented with one, but given the opportunity to focus your energy in finding another one.

pMaN

It starts with an emo post

When I started this blog - it was by fluke.

I set up this silly named google account - prithburped ? not knowing that this wasn't a one hit wonder kind of thing but an actual empire. Nevertheless, back then it was fun having an email address you thought would make others laugh. Prith literally burped at it a few years and countless posts later - when I had to make a choice of giving my professional world my hotmail address instead of my gmail address.

I stopped writing for a while when I was in Uni, for the very fact that I had too much going on and the audience I was writing for had too much going on as well. Such is life.

I looked back on all those draft posts I had written and never posted - decided I should purge them or just publish them on the blog and so I had.....and another few years moved on.

Now I'm writing another post with not intent of publishing and with 99% percent chance of it occupying some real estate in the drafts folder. Nonetheless, I will write it.

From where I left off and more...

So its been a while, since my last blog post.

A lot has happened, which I believe is normal. It wouldn't be normal if nothing had happened in such a long period of time.

It is the 27th day of the 4th month in the year year 2014 ( just for dramatisation)

I decided for this post I would continue where I left off and to do that, I had to log into my blogger account and click on compose. What caught my eye was the number of drafts I have sitting there just waiting for me to come back and work (well that was the idea back then). But I never got around to doing that. Well today is the day or night as it is night time (9:28pm). So i'll begin with the earliest draft I had ever saved with the intent to come back and continue.

DRAFT 1 on the 17th of January, 2006 I wrote:

"Update : Pak vs Ind

Quite a surprising match this has turned out to be, Yuvraj seemed to be lucky to have that ball within his reach as Pakistan stepped onto the Lahorian pitch in winter Pakistan four days ago.
Not letting, probably the catch of the day stop the hometown players, Inzamam probably whispered some words of wisdom into his players, as the batsmen were on blazing fire that day, obtaining a century seemed to be the same as the number of times Shoaib Akhtar threw a bouncer at the opposition. After a score which would have seemed a number a bit too far from reach. They delclared their innings and handed the batting over to the Indians.

Batting on the Indian side started off quite well with rahul and Sehwag opening. Sehwag with his non-emotional face seemed to be reading the bowlers minds. As he and his partner went on to score a close record breaking number of runs if it hadnt been for the weather. Availability of light seemed to be the problem. Looks like they won't be able to break the record if the weather goes on like this. Sehwag went on to score a double century and Rahul a century. Naveed-Ul-Hasan went on to take the wicket of Sehwag finally after a staggering 254 runs.

The match ended in a draw.
Hopefully the next two tests will bring more action.
Until then , readers will be updated.."

Obviously this was a big match between two best of friend nations playing a gentleman's game of cricket. If my memory serves me right, I had decided to do what CricInfo had been doing for ages, write a commentary on the game as it proceeds. A brilliant idea at the time, with hundreds of my blog fans flocking to their computers, and (possibly) phones at the time to get a glimpse of what this amateur blogger had to say about the cricket match. Yea right!

I never got to comment on the next match and this is possibly where the realization that my brilliant idea was probably not so brilliant kicked me in the n***.

Draft 2 - On the 25th of January 2006 I wrote:

"Surfing the web recently and came upon a really interesting "thing".
Seems that recently there's a new craze in the automotive world, well sort of.
This is getting a pc into your car, not the kindof pc's you get to read the engine stats and all, but literally windows xp in your dashboard.
Some of the main reasons why a pc is installed in a car
  • GPS - Global Postioning System(not yet available in Malaysia)
  • Ability to play dvd's,mp3's,burn cd's, dvd's etc...
  • Store files or documents
  • Wireless internet via bluetooth or mobile phone.
  • Getting engine statistics
Well this is a very short list i have shown for example purposes.
This is very tempting project to pursure, its not expensive too.
theres a link to a site, check it out -"

I remember this one quite well, I had seen a video or a article on the web where someone had installed a computer in their car and they were using it to play music and videos and a bunch of other neat stuff! I As you can tell Windows XP was the talk of the town at the time! and burning dvd's was an everyday thing!

I'm glad I didn't pursue with this one at the time, firstly because I didn't own my car, or any car for that matter until a few years later after I had graduated from uni. And secondly, can you imagine burning dvd's while driving, I would be running a dvd copying service and turn into a pirate. AARrrrr matey!

Draft 3 - On the 22nd of September 2006 I wrote:

"Ever wondered what the people around you think of you, ever wanted to probe int the thoughts of others and watch their thoughts like on t.v. . Well its not possible yet, but people have their ways of identifying.
Its what we call expressions and emotions, with these it can give us an approximation or sometimes an accurate educated guess of what the other person is thinking of you.

This was one of my more philosophical pieces, the ones where it required the reader to go into some deep thought and meditate and think about the simpler things in life. Or so the author thought would be the end result. After reading this now, it seems to me, the 19 year old me was disillusioned or intrigued (a better word) by the emotions portrayed by others. In other and very simple words, I was stating the obvious.

Hence the title of the blog - Obviously Prith and the catch phrase : STATING THE OBVIOUS LIKE NO ONE ELSE.

DRAFT 4 - On the 2nd of September 2007 I wrote:

There were no words in this draft, just pictures and the pictures say a thousand words. This was a great trip, where I happened to be in the country (Malaysia) at the time during my semester breaks and Ehaab who happened to be going on a trip to Penang asked me to come along for the ride! A brilliant idea it was!

Got to travel by bus with a bunch of awesome people who were from different parts of the planet. Ate a lot of penang food as shown below. Saw some amazing cricket between some of the legends in Penang as well as enjoyed the company of some beautiful people.

A trip I won't forget. :)

DRAFT 5 : On the 31st of May 2007 I wrote:

DRAFT 6 : On the 10th of Jan 2007 I wrote:

The birds are chirping, the children are playing, its a cloudless sky , and all you can see in the horizon is a false image of lush green trees, perfectly curved hills creating an illusion like they are moving sinusoidally. Its a wonderful world if you see it this way, you know with all the birds chirping, hills, green trees and children playing, oh and also if its just a virtual one. Coming back to reality, its not so green, not too many trees, children not really playing outdoors anymore and its sky filled with clouds of exhaust fumes.

Who knew that we were capable of destroying our own home to an extent that others are dying due to lack of food where some are getting obese like they've never eaten before. Digging holes where you "think" there might be oil, destroying other lives in the process. There are very few people you and i probably know that are aware of the extent of the damage done to this place we call home. What was once reality can only be seen virtually now, in pictures, in magazines and in memories.

Lets start from the South, from the Antarctica, that large white land that is more prominent than any land on earth. Well its not so big , its getting smaller every year. Its this thing called global warming. I'm sure you've all heard about it, well thats probably it. Some of you know actually know what it is and thats probably it. Then there are those very few who actually do something about it. I'm not about to give you a long lecture on global warming now, it doesn't have much effect on humans. Besides,I dont need to get my readers aware about it. Its one of those accepted truths that people turn a closed eye on.

DRAFT 7 : On the 19th of March 2008 I wrote:

"......umm....this is..i mean i....i'm new here....and i..i was supposed to ca..call this number when i go.....got here"

Who'd have thought that the first person you talk to when you got here would a grumpy old man, atleast thats what he sounded like, it could have been a woman, who knows?.

DRAFT 8 : On the 7th of January 2008 I wrote:

It was another day around the same time of the year...
The tension..the sleepless nights...the frustration...

I would say the exams were easier..so what's worse?

Well there are probably a million and one things that are worse than exams and all its festivities,
in this case its leaving thats always a nightmare for me...and i'm sure i'm speaking on behalf of others.

Packing up my room was a nightmare..stuffing 3 years of my things into boxes is no easy task.

It took countless boxes(12!!!) few bags(8!!!) and alot of food and energy drinks to keep me awake the night before I left..

...The feeling is awesome once you realise that you're done....WRONG!!!

Its the worst feeling you can get, because you know in about a month you're going to have to unpack almost all these boxes once you come back. Torture isnt it?

Oh well...I'm home for another few week. Until then KL mamak stalls better prepare themselves ,my stomach is growling.

DRAFT 10 : On the 3rd of February 2013, I wrote:

This is my story, and it starts with the first memory I can remember.

Memory Capture 1
My first memory capture was recorded in Kolkata, India at my Grandfathers house. This house was located in an area called Garia, in the Narkelbagan suburb. The house was, at the majestic, scaling up to 3 stories with an amazing accessible rooftop. The view from the top wasn't so great but it was nice to see the whole sky above you with no obstructions and just play up there when you're a kid.

The reason why this is a memory is probably because, it was a happy moment. It was my birthday and we had stopped over in Kolkata on our way to our new home in Malaysia. The year was 1991 and it was summer as I recall, we weren't wearing too much winter clothes. I wasn't expecting much from anyone as a birthday celebration, but it was a surprise when it was after dinner I was called in to the dining room  and there I saw a cake on the table with 4 candles and everyone standing around and singing happy birthday.
I got a small Lego set as a gift and then proceeded to eat some cake, after which I kept myself occupied for some time with the Lego set.

I don't remember much after that.

Memory Capture 2

I remeber this one because it was all very new, a new place, a new house and new surroundings. The house was quite long and was double story.

The New Generation - Past Series

The New Generation

The new year and what it holds for us is yet to be seen.
What can be explained now are the impacts our presence is having on the next generation right at this moment.

Who cares about the next generation you ask? Why bother when you believe that no one bothered about you?

I say; ask your parents and find out if they have bothered about you, actually ask yourself that question.

Clear blue sky,
Watching down on me..

Lush green flora,
Staring straight through me..

Wild holy river,
Flowing beneath my feet..

My past, my present and my future,
Staring right back at me.

Blog Rebooted!

The year is 2011 and the date is the last day before 2012.
Judging from the good ol' mayans and John Cusack's "award" winning portrayal of man who experiences an epic adventure to save him and a few of the other 6 billion people from the end of the world.

It's not really the end of the world, just a big flood. The end of the world would be when the sun consumes the earth as its dying and creating a black hole. (astrophysicists would hopefully back me up here)

Excuse my digression, as I was saying, the end of the world has motivated me to restart what I left off sometime last year.
Consider this my first post of the year (and if the world ends in 2012, probably my last) but I doubt thats going to happen.

Happy New Year to friends!family!lovers!haters! and even those people who randomly comment on my posts with the most irrelevant replies, a jolly good year to you too!
To the AC Repair company, may you repair ac's better this year;
To the hair cuts for women, may you cut hair better for women this year;
To the financial help for college, may the colleges get your help this year!
Wish you all the best and I look forward to this year with more posts, comments and pictures!

rememberance - Past Series

"Hi, ticket?"....

yup, thats how we start off our day when the customers start pouring in.
Entering the plastic doors that are slightly hazed to give the impression that this is the place that they toys come out from and also a big sign saying "Authorized personnel only" to keep them away.

The smell of unopened cardboard boxes, the metal racking and the body odour from the ticket boys. Exactly what we need in the morning to wake up to serve our customers with a smile.

Don't think we hardly interact with customers just because we're the ticket boys, we meet them, talk to them, help them and most important of all they need us. Loading those heavy items onto their cars, making small talk and sometimes really long talk. Finding an item in the grand storeroom is no easy task, leave it to a ticket guy to find it for you. After a while it becomes second nature.

But wait, there's a person waiting by the loading dock and you've got to tend to them as well. Great! The delivery guy has arrived and he's in a hurry and not giving you the good vibes. When you think you've helped everyone, "Ticket to refunds, thats ticket to refund please , thank you" goes over the speaker system in a very sweet but demanding voice. Alas, thats all that was left. Let't just say this is probably the more usual way to start off the morning. This is not even including the little paperwork that goes in to being a ticket guy, thats another story on its own.

So how do we keep it together you ask? Its not a million dollar question my loyal readers, its actually human nature. When you're having a bad day, you need a pick up, a sliver lining as some call it. Be it someone to talk to, something you do to de-stress or just need to get motivated to get moving again.

A friend, a smile, a nice gesture is sometimes all we need to get us up and going again. And in this place we call our workplace, there's a certain person who managed to do this job pretty well, be it unconsciously or intentionally but that doesn't matter.

I know, that we, the ticket guys, the guys and girls on the sales floor and on the registers have been touched by this person in a way thats not explainable or probably is.
In the end, we all wish him the best, where ever he may be and that he knows how grateful we are to have had the chance to know him and work alongside him.

Springfest spring feast - Past Series

Spring,

flowers blossoming, painting houses, cleaning them and a lot of cleaning. Its the time when people turn new leaves and make things look like new.

I like to bakar some ikan, and thats exactly what I did at the Spring feast festival at UWA this year. Along with pulut lady and Mr.Z, we set up a stall to sell ikan bakar and pulut inti and masala chai!

It was for a good cause as most of the money went to the United Nations fund for the Pakistan Emergency. We sold a lot, the pulut was first to go and then the ikan bakar. The chai was an added bonus.

Its a dog eat dog world part 3 - Based on a true story - Past Series

Short, lanky and inconspicuous was the boy. He entered the doors of the cyber cafe and slowly and carefully with smooth movements slipped into the Lien's seat and made the phone his. Lien and his mom were amazed, and her first reaction was that he's just a small boy. Lien sighed relief at the image, atleast they know who took it. Now to find him, Liens mom asked the manager if he had seen him before and being the helpful and caring person he is, he said yes.

It turns out the boy in the cctv image is regular at the cyber cafe and he even knows what time of the day he comes in. It was decided that the three would all meet at the cyber cafe at 1pm, also the time the little boy makes his rounds in the cyber cafe.

pMaN

Its a dog eat dog world part 2- Based on a true story - Past Series

Lien heads home and has decided to let his mom know about the incident, he prepares himself for the next 30 mins for the musical concert of his life. What he doest realize is that he's going to go on an adventure with his mom for the next 2 days!

After the Lien's ear drums are shattered, his mom decides to pay the manager of the cyber cafe a visit, taking Lien with her of-course. Upon arrival she notices that there are CCTV cameras located in the building and speaks to the manager. Being a good natured, helpful manager, he agrees to find the footage during Lien's visit to the cyber cafe. He finds it, and forwards it exactly to the time Lien leaves his seat to leave and Lien can see it, in front of his eyes his beloved phone is right there on the table. He wishes he could grab it through the confines of the 14inch black and white CCTV display.

It is about 3 minutes since he's left, a few people have entered and left but the phone is still there on the table. The manager, Lien and his mom are glued to the screen to see what happens next.

pMaN

Its a dog eat dog world part 1 - based on a true story - Past Series

Lien is about to sit down and order his food when he realizes that he's left his phone at the cyber cafe! Its been 5 minutes since he's left his phone.

He hurries back to the cyber cafe hopeful to find the phone lying where he left it. He is devastated. At that point his mind races to think about what to do, where could it go? who should he ask? whats his mom going to say? and definitely wish he had not taken it out of his pocket.

At this conjecture, I am not going to insult the readers intelligence by stating the obvious because I'm sure you all know that the phone is in someone else's possession. Big question is whose?

pMaN

Its a dog eat dog world - Past Series

It was intense! All that clicking, shouting and rush of adrenaline when you die, sometimes its tiring. But at the end of the day you re-spawn and start all over again. Bang! Bang!

At this point its all pretty cool and amazing, Lien has killed the most amount of terrorists from his team and is smiling from ear to ear. He wants to maintain his untouched record a little longer but when you feel a pang in your tummy it is time to retire from all that shooting and dying and find a nice chilled out spot in the neighborhood to satisfy the palate.

Lien is a lean, dark and tall high school kid of about 15 years of age and cyber cafe's, pool and basketball are his staple diet. What more could a kid want? Good friends, good times and a young heart. Lien's mom, a very outgoing, loud, tall woman and an amazing cook. She will cook food from around the world including Western, Asian, vegetarian and new creations were coming out of the kitchen everyday. She enjoys the company of friends and watching exciting Indian soap operas on television.

Lien's father who is an engineer works very hard and likes to enjoy the evenings reading the news on the computer and watching a Hollywood action movie. He enjoys eating good food and poetry.

Going back to Lien's cybercafe where he had just left to go and eat, what I forgot to mention is that he had also left his expensive hand phone on the computer he was sitting at. Now this phone, a birthday gift with a price tag comprising of triple zeros was given to him by his parents.

What happens next and the actions following that is something that should amaze you.

Sleep Drought

Sleep has been pulverized, obliterated, caught out,run out, destroyed, eaten up, consumed, sucked in the back hole.

Stress, odd sleeping and eating habits and too many things in someone's head can cause sleeping problems. Don't take my word for it, ask a doctor.

A couple of remedies I got from a couple of doctor friends and non doctor friends were:

1. Getting off Facebook - this is probably the one thats keeping us all up at night, as I can still see people here in Perth still up in the wee hours of the morning. Must be the vampire/twilight influence, oh wait, no its just people studying. Good Luck to you guys! to all others, Don't screw up your sleep, you'll have your whole life to get up in the morning to go to work and stay up late at night for work later. Enjoy those dreamy sessions, its the one place no one can get into ...yet.

2. Warm Milk - I've heard this from a lot of people actually. I had no idea how this works, never asked. I never liked the taste of milk as a kid and didn't get the idea of drinking milk as we grew up since it's only meant to be drunk as a baby!(Think about it!) Anyway thats a different argument. This probably works for some, for me, I'm not sure yet.

3.Stumbleupon.com - This is a cool website that selects the best of a certain topic that you like and presents it to you at a click of a button. So all you have to do is click, and your favorite photography site or musical video or random webpage is shown. It passes your time and the monotonous repetition movement of your finger on the touch pad or mouse is what probably puts you to sleep. Works for me sometimes, until I come an interactive website where I have to play a game. There goes any hope of me falling asleep.

4. Dancing like a bollywood star - as suggested by a friend of mine, not sure what he was thinking. Probably on the lines that tiring me out with those choreographed aerobics would eventually put me to sleep. This I haven't tried yet and probably won't. Anyone tried this?

5. How about a Drink? - I guess this depends on what drink you're having and what reaction this drink can have on you. I'm sure somewhere someone said "You can drink yourself to sleep..." maybe it's something I saw on Devdas.

6.Count Sheep - This reminds me of the time when Mr. Bean decides to count sheep from a picture in front of him, a calculator one hand typing in god knows what numbers, then eventually counting them all, acknowledging his utmost surprise and finally crashing into his bed snoring. I wish it worked this way. My sheep tend to run away into the distance and my imagination gets the better of me. It beyond my control and frankly induces more brain activity than staying awake.

7. Sleeping Hygiene - This was a doctor friend of mine, this comprises of the following a)sleeping at the same time everyday- routine establishment b)no vigorous activity before sleep even watching TV and movies, reading is acceptable. c) NO CAFFEINE! d) exercise and in the end he said another alternative would be Temazepam 10mg PRN. OK real medical advise here.
I can already say I don't do any of the above, which screams "OBVIOUSLY PRITH".

Moving on...

8) Riding my bike to Mandurah and back - for those not in Perth, Mandurah is a nice quiet coastal town south of Perth, about an hours drive. Well one hour by car = forever by bike. I'll probably lie unconscious next to the beach. Oh well...

Those are a couple of ideas, I'm sure there are a lot more creative, innovative and mind blasting ideas out there that people have to help them to sleep. I would like to add one more to this list..

9) Blogging - I have to say, this is working in a way. Goodnight readers.

Affairs of the Current type - Past Series

The headlines of today were quite interesting, ranging from rising home loan interest rates, the British election, exorcism and banning the veil.

Now if I were asked which headline caught your attention, an educated guess would probably leave out all of them because frankly this is old news.

Now if I were to further grab your undivided attention to this post by saying that a certain someone is coming out of the closet, well now that's something some people would categorize as amazingly eye catching. Mind you, it is only to some people that the sexual orientation of a person is more important than the current affairs of the world. - This is exactly what the entertainment industry thrives on. They are so influential, they can make major news headlines look like little insignificant columns.

The human mind is an unsettling one, one's privacy is anothers pleasure which is weird, creepy and money making!

To man-kind and hoping they sort out their priorities!

Saving the World

2 weeks ago I had asked a question to a few people this time, a question I guess everyone overlooks or wouldn't bother answering at first glance. It is not a simple one to answer, some might take a considerable amount of time to think about it, which is why I wasn't expecting a huge response this time. The responses I did get, went beyond my expectations!

Question : "If you had the power, what would YOU would do to make the world a better place?"

Thanks for the answers everyone! It truly is amazing how differently we all think.Enjoy the read and feel free to comment.

"If I had the power, I would BOOGIE, because name me one person who isn't happy when they are mindlessly dancing away to nothing!
But on a more serious note, I think everyone has THE power, because a wise man once said, 'Change the world, one person at a time. Why not start with yourself?'" -

"Something to remove ourselves from the dependence of fossil fuels, an alternative an clean energy source. Introduce equity amongst all and reduce the rich-poor divide, although it sounds really communistic :p" - Jeff Yeoh

"first i'll hang all the abusers, rapist, terrorists n back stabbers (esp men, sori not being sexist but sometimes we r left wif no choice)....den il sentence those who are judgmental til death....den il solve poverty and any issues related to child, women, disabled, old and needy people....finally ill help to spread love and peace...hehehehe....." - Kiren Kaur

"I believe a lot of problems today exist because of a lack of communication and a lack of cultural understanding. I want to bridge gaps and show that we are all the same on the inside no matter how different we are on the outside.
I think the media is to blame for a lot of it...and i have been thinking for several years now..to start making short films..documentaries...as they make a huge impact on the viewers compared to other medium of communication.
This is where i relate it to the first question, in 20 years i want to be financially stable so that i can have the power to do such things, to be able to bring some change.
I dont know how else i can answer the question Pman...
The other reason we have problems is the lack of education. This is a serious issue and i think is the root problem anywhere. Building schools and strong curriculum is also very important and i hope..i hope...we can actually do this."
- Mohammed Ehaab

"I will stop people from having more than 2 babies!

Less people... less waste!
Less people... less poverty!
Less people... less problems!
Less people... less hunger!

and the list carries on!

And of course, keep your needs to a minimum and you will be happy"
- Alex Garces

"I would make a person think about and do stuff for the benefit of other people instead of for his or her own benefit." -Ubaid Ali Qadri

"I will take add one more into humans... COMMONSENSE!" - Joy Ganesan

"I would throw all flowery thoughts of prayer and being devout aside. It doesn't seem to be working guys (no insult, honest).
Instead, if I had the power, all I would do was to take into account each of the areas most frequently affected or at least from a geological point of view, at risk and improve or implement infrastructures for safety (e.g. safe ouses for typhoons/cyclones and proper building infrastructure to better withstands earthquakes. Expensive I know, but you said I had the power.
My next move would be not as drastic. It is already something I am in the midst of doing. Being civic minded, honest and just. This is something that I believe does not come from those high up in the social chain. This is something that must begin at ground level. I am ground level. So are you. We should all work on these issues to make any country a better, more honest and pleasant place to live in because if we've in Hell, we might as well work together and build an air-conditioner. My 2 cents."

Late Afternoon with Pman

Good Afternoon everyone!

Its been an while since my last post and ages since my last "Late night with Pman" post.

Today is Valentines Day and its a day where people express their emotions for each other by means of gifts. It doesn't have to be between lovers, it can be between friends and family, as love comes in all forms.

Where did this tradition or culture originate from?

Its been around for years! Hundreds actually!
One version of its history states that the title Valentine was given to Christian martyrs.

Alright? SO what does this have to do with expressing love to each other?

In a very short and casual way of saying this,

A ruler in this european region had condemned all men to stay single as he wanted to grow an army and his theory was that married men made crappy soldiers. Fair enough. But a priest went against this rule and went and married men to their women secretly anyway. When the ruler found out, he had him arrested and set to be executed.

Now it gets to the interesting part.

While in jail, he befriended and fell in love with the daughter of the jailer and the day before he was to be executed, he wrote a letter in which he expressed his feeling to her and had ended the letter by writing,

- From your valentine

Thats a version of the story which I have obtained from a very "reliable" source.

I'm sure there are other versions and I do hope to hear those versions.

Personally I feel that Valentines Day was a very well thought idea or tradition and though some people like it obviously due to its chocolate red rose combinations. It actually encourages people to be together, be it lovers, friends or family even though it is for a day.

That's all for this afternoon,
Pman out!

Happy Valentines Day
