Interwing tournament
Wonderful, day today, no rain, no wind, no sign of failure ...
Started with a nice meal of lunch and then after some time headed off to the Riley oval to play for my wing - Derry. Oh and by the way, these are the wings that make up Trinity - Durrow, Argyll, Derry, Iona, South , Flats and Cook.
We were up against South wing for the first match, beat them 2 - 1 (i think - most of you who know me know that i have short term memory). Well next we were up againt Argyll - no hard feeling Brian, but we beat you too.. i forgot the score but we had a good cheer from our mates.
Next up was Flats - alot of familiar players here, so we beat them too.
Well then after that we were in the semi finals against Cook wing, well alot of regulars here, know their styles and their goal keeper, so we had our strategy , with diagrams on the grass and a team huddle, made a score that took us to the finals of the Inter wing tournament.
Finals , we were up against Iona wing, both teams were pretty psyched up, no nonsense from anybody, full force from everyone, great team effort. The match ended in a draw, so we had to advance to golden goal. Last few seconds, corner kick from the opposing team took a brilliant shot and curled it so much it went for a direct goal. For the first few seconds, there was no reaction from the goal taker, then cheers and moans and more cheering from both sides.
Left the pitch shaking hands of opponents chanting " great game"....
Feeling satisfied to reach the finals, had a heavy dinner, filled up my tank for the night, and retired to my room, to blog about it...
Keep playing football, play for fun, its an international peace maker.
Cheers.
Pman(some of you remember elephant feet?)
Ciao
